It is a complete introduction into and discussion of materialized views - including backgrounds, algorithms, tests, etc. I find the book's approach very good. I did not miss anything. The vendor dependent implementations of mv are not really discussed, but|||Ashish Gupta and Inderpal Singh Mumick have brought together an excellent collection of articles covering the most important issues related to the selection, use, and maintenance of materialized views.
